I am a teacher in an all girl independent school in New Jersey , USA. Every year during the month of March, we recognize and honor the accomplishments of notable women from around the world. Students in grades Kindergarten through Fifth, as well as faculty and staff, spend the month participating in cross-curricular activities focused on a woman they have chosen to study.
Women We Admire Day is the culminating event. On this day, all the members of the Lower School community dress as the woman they have studied. Women We Admire Day activities include various centers where "notable women" gather to collaborate with others in the same field. For example, in the STEM center, scientists, mathematicians and engineers participate in activities. Invited guests might include local scientists, graduate students or High School students that share their work and experiences in the STEM fields.
